Senior Frontend Engineer (Remote)

Work on an exciting new product and accelerate your career.

Job Description

Reffie is an early-stage startup building the next-generation workflow and data analytics platform for residential real estate owners, operators, and property managers.

Ancient software causes renting to be a painful experience for everyone involved. Our mission is to smooth out rental communications and house families faster.

We are looking for a remote, senior frontend engineer. You would be among our first four engineering hires outside of the founding team. You will shape many of our early technical decisions and have a critical impact on our product.

We are looking for highly driven, independent, and creative engineers. We are strongly biased towards people with previous startup experience. We expect our engineers to move quickly, rapidly learn and adopt new technologies, and imaginatively approach new challenges.

Why Work for Us?

  • We are a small, fully-remote team. Being remote doesn’t mean second-class (we also offer B2B payments if you prefer).

  • Competitive global salary.

  • We are funded by some of the most well-respected early-stage VCs and investors, including Haystack, Trust, Redbud, and A16z.

  • We have exceptional momentum. Unlike many companies at our stage, we have both a product as well as paying customers.

  • You want to have a big impact on a product. You want to work on cutting-edge technologies across the stack.

  • You want to enter on the ground floor of a fast-growing startup and accelerate your career trajectory.

  • Paid team off-site, we will fly you out.

About the Role

  • You will build and improve Reffie’s web platform. Lead the design, build, and implementation of intuitive and responsive frontends to delight our customers.

  • Foster a culture of upholding industry-leading UX.

  • You will collaborate with team members on the full software development lifecycle: design and architecture, sprint planning, development and issue tracking, code reviews, and testing.

  • You will develop clean, maintainable, testable code (because moving quickly means building together).

About You

Required

  • You have 5+ years of experience in frontend software development.

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or related field.

  • You are experienced with the modern frontend stack: TypeScript, React, CSS3. You are well-versed in responsive design.

  • You are familiar with industry-standard performance monitoring and logging tools.

  • You are comfortable with git and the Linux bash command-line.

Be prepared to answer technical interview questions and code in all required languages and technologies.

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience with: Vite, CSS modules, at least one CSS framework/library such as MUI or Tailwind.

  • Prior experience with Redux, Zustand, or Redux Toolkit. Some knowledge of React Query a plus.

  • Experience with SSR (Next.js or similar).

  • Bonus: an eye for aesthetics.

Consider applying even if you don’t meet all the nice-to-haves. Our ideal candidate is, most importantly, a fast learner.

Hiring Process

  1. Technical interview. Test your knowledge of required technologies (30 minutes).

  2. Take-home programming assignment, testing your knowledge of required technologies. Estimated time to finish for an experienced candidate: 3 hours.

  3. Review of your take-home programming assignment with the engineering team (45 minutes).

  4. Culture fit interview (30 minutes).

  5. Reference check & offer.
